Deal not finalized, but 'everything's done'

Reuters

NEW YORK -- Heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman's rematch with Lennox Lewis will take place on Nov. 17 in Las Vegas, Rahman's co-manager Steve Nelson said on Friday.

"Everything's done," Nelson told Reuters. "We do have a firm date, Nov. 17, and the fight will be taking place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

"Everyone's gearing up, one, to get the show promoted and, two, to get everybody in shape to do what needs to be done so that Rock can repeat his victory."

Sport, Entertainment and Media Group -- Lewis' management company -- said Wednesday each fighter will earn at least $10 million.

Rahman shocked Lewis with a fifth-round knockout in South Africa last April to take away the Briton's World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) crowns.

"Lennox Lewis is making approximately $10 million and we're doing slightly better as a guarantee but we also have upsides which could make our number considerably higher based upon closed circuit revenue, how well the night does at its site, sponsorships," Nelson added.

"So we're all thrilled at the way it's transpired."
